At Your Dream Coffee, we believe better coffee starts with better information. Whether you’re a beginner making your first cold brew or a seasoned barista perfecting your espresso dial-in, our goal is to help you brew smarter, not harder.

This Editorial Policy outlines how our team—led by Jeffrey, our founder and editor—creates, reviews, and maintains content you can trust.

Every article is grounded in hands-on experience, expert insight, and a commitment to honesty, clarity, and transparency.

We follow Google’s Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines, the U.S. FTC’s endorsement rules, and Dutch laws such as the GDPR and Digital Services Act.

This policy applies to all writers, editors, guest contributors, and content partners working with Your Dream Coffee.

While Your Dream Coffee is currently a one-person editorial project, we refer to ‘our team’ to reflect our professional standards and future contributor plans.

How We Create and Maintain Content

Fact-Checked & Research-Based

We base every article on:

  • Firsthand testing or usage.
  • Credible sources like the SCA, peer-reviewed research, and professional barista feedback.
  • Verified customer reviews and community insights.

We prioritize sources from recognized institutions such as the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), academic journals, and government agencies when available.

Reference Content Standards

We uphold rigorous sourcing, review, and editorial standards to ensure everything we publish is accurate, helpful, and trustworthy.

Editorial Oversight & Fact-Checking

Every reference article is reviewed by our editorial team and subject-matter experts in coffee. We never publish unverified user-generated content or anonymous submissions.

Sources & Citations

We prioritize sources from recognized institutions such as the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), academic journals, and government agencies when available.

Articles without appropriate citations don’t get published. Period.

How We Choose Topics

We prioritize topics where we have firsthand expertise or can offer unique insights not easily found elsewhere.

We select topics based on community questions, brewing challenges, and reader feedback. We also monitor industry trends and search behavior to ensure our content is timely and relevant.

Updated Regularly

We review content every 6–12 months, or sooner if research, product specs, or brewing standards change. “Last updated” dates are always displayed at the top.

We also perform regular content audits across the site to ensure published content remains up to date, helpful, and accurate.

Accuracy & Corrections

We aim to fix factual issues within 2–3 business days.

Major factual updates are clearly labeled at the top of the article with a date and a brief note explaining the change.

Notice something that needs updating? Let us know here.

Human-Written & AI-Assisted

We occasionally use AI tools to:

  • Draft outlines
  • Clean up formatting
  • Summarize source data

However, our human team reviews, rewrites, and fact-checks every article before publication. We never publish AI-generated content without review.

How We Review Products

Hands-On Testing

We don’t just write about coffee gear—we brew with it.

When possible, we test each product personally, putting it through everyday use scenarios.

We assess everything from build quality and temperature stability to grind retention and ease of cleaning.

We take notes over time, testing in multiple conditions to see how gear performs under real-life brewing pressures—like rushed weekday mornings or long weekend brew sessions.

This helps us identify both immediate usability and long-term reliability.

Expert + User Research

If we can’t test a product directly, we consult trusted industry reviews, real user experiences, and manufacturer specifications.

We rely on insights from professional baristas and experienced home brewers to inform our recommendations.

Review Criteria

All reviews are structured around the following factors:

  • Build quality & durability
  • Performance under real-world use
  • Consistency over time
  • Ease of use & cleaning
  • Overall value for the price

What I Don’t Do

  • We never publish manufacturer-written content.
  • We don’t accept payments for positive reviews.
  • We don’t recommend anything we wouldn’t use ourselves.

Original Photography & Recipe Testing

All brewing photos and recipe images are taken in-house by our team.

We only use visuals captured while testing or preparing recipes ourselves. This helps ensure that what you see reflects what you’ll actually get.

We never use stock photography for brewing tutorials or recipe guides.

All in-house photos are copyright Your Dream Coffee and may not be reproduced without permission.

Affiliate Links, Sponsorships & Advertising

We believe transparency builds trust. That’s why we clearly label any sponsored content or affiliate relationships.

Affiliate Disclosure

Some of our articles include affiliate links. If you click and purchase, we may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you. This helps us stay ad-light and independent.

We only recommend products we genuinely believe offer value. Our editorial process is never influenced by commissions.

Disclosures are placed in the sidebar, in the footer menu, and linked at the top of articles for full transparency.

Sponsored Content

Occasionally, we may partner with brands for sponsored articles. These are always:

  • Clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Partner Content”.
  • Reviewed and edited by our team.
  • Only accepted from brands we trust and believe in.

We never accept payment for positive coverage, and we never publish prewritten content from sponsors.

We maintain full editorial independence in every monetized post, and we never create content solely to generate revenue.

Conflict of Interest

We avoid reviewing any product or service where we have a financial interest beyond standard affiliate commissions.

No team member owns or operates a brand featured on this site.

See our Affiliate Disclosure for more details.

Contributors are selected based on their background in specialty coffee, food science, or barista training. We value both professional and hands-on experience.
