WordCamp KC was successful! Awesomeness and lack of sleep seemed to describe the weekend. There was much fun in this nerd party and I learned a lot of new terms and was inspired by the sessions I attended.

I never thought I would rely on Twitter so much, but if you have ever attended a tech conference, the twitter hashtag is a very essential piece. We communicated to the group and each other using twitter. It was actually amazing. My twitter name will be going on my business card the next round they get printed. Until then, follow me @coffeegurl. You can see some of the tweets from the weekend at #wckc.

The speakers we had were awesome! We had 223 people turn out for the weekend and some of our speakers weren’t accustomed to speaking to that large of a crowd, but they put their nerves aside and gave awesome presentations.

With the three different tracks and my organizer duties, I didn’t get to all the sessions, but I know that much was learned on how to start your WordPress site and with it advice on how to start and run your business. Designers learned how to submit their theme to the repository and how to make money with companies like Theme Forest. Developers learned about child themes and how to create plugins and e-commerce sites.

I still have to go through some of the notes I took. So there might be more information to come. I hope those attending learned somethings and met some of the great campers.

We plan to be back next year. Contact us if you would like to speak or volunteer.

Happy WordPressing!
